How to Play Baccarat
If you’re going to sit down at a baccarat table there are certain rules you must know. Baccarat is a lot of James Bond-style gambling fun, and your go-to game. There are three possible winning hands (a player win, a banker win and a tie). You sit back and let the dealer do all the work.
As the player you bet either on the “player’s” side, the “banker” side or a tie. Cards 2 through 9 are face value, a 10, jack, queen and king have a value of 0. An ace is one.
The dealer deals out the cards face up—two card each for the player and banker—and the hand closest to nine wins. If you bet on the player and it has the closest to nine, your winnings are double what you bet. If you bet on the banker and it wins, it pays 95 % of your wager.
When the cards are dealt by the dealer are greater than nine, add the two cards together, drop first digit to get the final value. For example, with two cards dealt, a 8 and 7 cards dealt would add up to 15, you drop the first digit, and the value in the game is five.
Here are some other rules to help you win at baccarat:
- If the player or banker are dealt a total of eight or nine, both the player and banker stand.
- If the player’s total is five or less, then the player receives another card. If the players hand is greater than 5, the player will stand.
- If the player stands, the banker hits on a total of 5 or less.
- The final betting option, a tie, pays out 8-to-1.
